1987: The Hollow Success
Forced out with his own 12,000 yuan, Zhao Weidong watches Lin Guoqiang and Sun Guifen call him “just the money man.” In 1987: The Hollow Success, Zhao had pulled Lin back from suicide, fronted his savings, won the brick-factory canteen contract, and brought in Master Ma and the supply connections that made the place profitable. Now the couple wants every cent and all the credit. Sun Guifen humiliates him in front of the kitchen staff; Lin hides behind “I risked my life.” Zhao fires back: the canteen’s real core isn’t the stoves—it’s the network and trust he built. A 1987 factory-canteen betrayal drama about greed, loyalty, and the cost of hollow success.
